Bear Mountain is a classic Chol Hamoed outing, offering activities that cater to the whole family and ample space to spend the day together. There are numerous trails to follow and paths to hike, offering scenic views of the Hudson Valley. The Hessian Lake provides a prime spot to bring food and enjoy a picnic right by the water.

There is a small, free zoo featuring local wildlife—bears, otters, deer, eagles, and an indoor carousel that's great for younger children. With wide open areas for picnicking, family-friendly attractions, and activities for every age, Bear Mountain makes an easy and enjoyable Chol Hamoed destination.

Entrance is free in the park, but there is a vehicle fee of $10 per vehicle.
